I grew up in the Palm Springs area of CA and set my goal early in high school of going to the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona (bear down!). Flash forward to 2012, I was accepted, and enrolled as a full time student. I applied as a psychology major but changed it to Elementary Education before the school year even started because I did not want to go to med school. It was at U of A that I joined a sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and met some of my favorite people in the entire world (shout out to the homies). I truly felt like I had finally found my place and it was the best 4 years of my life (so far). I graduated with a BA in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English Language Learning as well as my AZ Teaching Credential in 2016.
After graduating I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and taught 4th grade at a Title 1 school for 2 years. If you know anything about Title 1 schools, my school had a 99% free and reduced lunch rate and was such a rewarding experience. It was during this time that I lived with my teacher bestie, Lauren (@learningwithlauren)! During my second year teaching, I started my masters program and enrolled in an online Master of Science Curriculum & Instruction program through Western Governors University which I finished in 2020. During my third year in AZ, I worked in a Spanish DLI program as a 3rd grade ELA and SS teacher.
Since moving back to California, I have worked at 2 different schools. The first was a new charter school where I taught 3rd grade and worked for 2 years. I discovered my love for resource creation during this time and have loved having a creative outlet since then. The second school where I currently teach, is in a public school district. Since 2022, I have taught 5th grade. Leaving 3rd grade was tough but I am shocked at how much I have enjoyed 5th grade. I truly feel that I am at my dream school and I am so thankful for my current position. I have finally found my “forever school” (for now, at least) and am enjoying life!
